The manager here comes off a little funny but being knowledgeable about cars myself, I chose to go here after sending my car to another place that claimed to be experts but wanted to charge me for a wrong and unnecessary problem. The mechanics at Independent fixed the actual issues with my car and now it’s running very smooth. I found the mechanics to be great. Any negative reviews might be due to irrational costumes who see an old looking independent business and think they can get them to charge under price, then get mad and irrational when they don’t. My parents had a housing appliance shop growing up and they’d get the same kind of bs from the locals.

I first took my car to Independent Mercedes about three years ago. At first I decided to alternate my services between them and the dealers, but I have been so satisfied with them that I have stopped going to the dealer. Their prices are about a third less than the dealers, and so far I have no problem with the quality of their work. After the recent storm, I drove through water and ended with problems with the ABS (sensors). They went out of the way to fix my car and get me back on the road when most places were not even open. Over the years I have had both independent mechanics and dealers trying to rip me off. I have found Independent Mercedes honest and straightforward. I have no hesitation recommending them.

I finally brought my ’04 Mercedes CL500 into this shop to repair my hydraulics suspenision after having 2 awful experiences at other garages in the past. I have a good knowledge of cars but like to play dumb to see if mechanics will try and take advantage of me. Not the case here and I guess that’s why everyone in the area recommends them. I came to Independent Mercedes Benz because both a coworker as well my wife’s friend, who have been going for years said they’re the best. The estimate I got at the Mercedes in Rockville Center was insane and twice as much as what I was charged at Independent. The manager has a funny sense of humor but he is the most honest mechanic I’ve found and definitely an expert in his field. I’ve been to mechanics in the past that really screwed up my car because they just didn’t know what they were doing. I got a tune-up at Independent as well and when I received my car it was washed! My Benz has driven smooth since but when I need a repair again, I’ll definitely come back.

I agree this guy is a CROOK!!! I take my car for service with one problem and left with two problems. They disconnected wires in my vehicle thinking I did not know anything about cars so he can rip me off. I will never take my car back and I will not recommend you do. These people are criminals just trying to make a buck. Dishonest. I am about to report them to both BBB and NYS DMV.
